We collect nothing about you or the children on the bus.
Summary
BusRoute operates entirely on-device. It does not connect to any server, does not create accounts, and does not transmit any data. The privacy policy below reflects that architecture.
Data collected
None. BusRoute does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, usage data, analytics, or crash reports via any external service.
All data created by the app — GPS stop positions, arrival times, student counts, route notes — is stored locally on the device where it was recorded and never leaves that device except when the user explicitly shares a route file via a system share sheet (email, WhatsApp, etc.).
Student information
BusRoute handles no personally identifiable student information. The only student-related data stored is an anonymous aggregate count ("4 students expected at this stop"). No names, no photos, no identifying information of any kind is collected or stored.
Location data
The app uses GPS location while recording a route (Learn run mode) and while providing guidance (Substitute run mode). Location data is used only to detect stops and compute approach bearings in real time. It is not stored beyond what is needed to build the stop profile, and it is never transmitted to any server.
Permissions requested
- Location (foreground) — required for stop detection and guidance.
- Microphone — required for voice commands ("yes", "no", "repeat that") during recording and guidance. Audio is processed locally by the device's speech recognition engine and is not stored or transmitted.
- Camera — required only for scanning QR codes in the Scan route screen. No photos are taken or stored.
Data sharing
BusRoute does not share data with any third party. When a driver exports a route file, that file is shared via the device's standard share mechanism (email, WhatsApp, etc.) — the same as sharing any file from your phone. Regicorp has no access to or knowledge of what is shared.
Data retention
All data is stored on the user's device until deleted by the user. Route profiles expire automatically after 105 days and become inoperable in Substitute mode. The user can delete all app data at any time via the device's standard app settings or by uninstalling the app.
Children's privacy
BusRoute is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. The app is operated exclusively by licensed bus drivers and bus company staff.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.
